Digital World and Its Inhabitants Digital World, where Digimons live, is a virtual space created by network researchers. In order to bring Digimons closer to real-life forms, they created various environments for them, such as islands or continents. As a result, “Digital World” was created, a visualized data of environment similar to Digimons themselves. The Digital World is located within the host computer named “Yggdrasil”, and is controlled and maintained by its A.I. Digimons are analogous life forms with individual sentience, strictly adhering to the rule of “survival of the fittest”. They go through various kinds of “Digivolution” to evolve and become more powerful. Digital World is another world that exists within the computer network, separate from the Real World that humans live in. These worlds are vastly different and coexist on a different dimensions. However, when the powers in the Digital World get large enough, they can break through the dimensional barriers and cross over to the Real World – a process called “Realizing”.
Digimons’ Growth and Digivolution All Digimons are hatched from Digitama - Egg. From hatching, they grow and go through different Digivolution stages in the following order: In-Training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and Mega. What Digimons require in order to grow is Data. Digimons, by nature, are capable of hunting other Digimons and loading(absorbing) their data to grow stronger. Once they have grown past a certain level, they can Digivolve to the next stage. However, should the Digimon form a bond with a human and become “Partners”, it can Digivolve through the strength of the human. The human in such a relationship is called a “Tamer”, while the Digimon is called a “Partner Digimon”. In Digimon Masters, the progress from Digitama to In-Training is skipped; Digimons start from the Rookie stage in the game. In addition, some Digimons are capable of advancing beyond Mega, to Burst Mode.
